UCU Canons 78-67 Our Saviour (Canons lead series 1-0)
UCU Canons used a an explosive third quarter to beat Our Saviour in Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs on Sunday afternoon at YMCA.
Canons trailed Our Saviour 29-27 after the first half but their scorching third quarter that saw them score a point more than they did the entire first half overwhelmed Our Saviour who were without Syrus Kiviiri.
Big man Desmond Owili climbed mountains on the hot afternoon and threw it down four times. Owili scored game high 19 points to go with 6 rebounds. Jonathan Egau and Stevn Wundi chipped in with 15 and 12 points respectively.
Guard, Innocent Odur scored 9 points and assisted 7 baskets.
Forward, Yves Kalmbayi paced the league and post season debutants with 18 points, James Deng added 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Sunday Okot fell short of a triple-double. The guard scored 12 points, picked 7 rebounds and dished out 10 assists.
Game 2 of the series will be played on Sunday, November 8 at YMCA
