There is not much history between City Oilers and KIU Titans (and of course any other team). The little there is dates back to last year when Oilers (then new comers) faced defensive oriented Titans in the first leg of the National Basketball League.
Oilers were on a run that KIU ended with a 48-47 edge. That was City Oilers’ ugliest game of the season. No surprise it had to be against Titans as they try to make it difficult for opponents. In fact the Titans did a double on Oilers last season. The fourth quarter KIU explosion handed them the regular season double in the 72-65 win.
It was different in the first round of the playoffs – City Oilers swept the best of three series (76-56 and 70-56) against KIU to advance and later emerged champions
The teams will continue to write their script when they face off this evening at YMCA. KIU started the season with three wins on the bounce and lost in overtime in their last game while City Oilers opened the season with a lost a have won three straight.
Unlike last season when the university outfit had a lot of focus defense, they seem to be balancing offense and defense more. They have only scored under 70 points once in the four games they have played and so have the City Oilers.
Meanwhile, A1 Challenge could finally get off the blocks when they face Nkumba Lady Marines. A1 are sitting at the basement of the women’s log with three losses in the three games played – falling to KIU, UCU and Magic Stormers.
