LIBERIA : LPRC Oilers Lose By 20 Points in Fiba-Africa Tournament in Tunisia

LPRC Oilers have been beaten by Club Sportif Constantinois of Algeria in the 28th edition of the Fiba-Africa basketball club championship, which kicked- in Sousse, Tunisia on Thursday.
Oilers lost by 64 to 84 points to the Algerian champions in what started to be a competitive match.
The Liberian champions lost the first period by 13 to 23 points but bounced back to win the second period by 21 to 16 points, ending the first half by 34 to 39 points in favor of the north Africans.
Back from the break, they narrowly lost the third period by 22 to 28 points but they must have run out of steam in the final period to lose by a 20-point margin.
Samuel Davidson, alias Bull Dog, was one of the standout performers for the Oil Boys.
In group A's early kick, Ferroviaro Beira of Mozambique lost to Tunisia's Etoile Sportive of Sahel by 49 to 75 points.
The completion of the first round tie between Tally BB of Gabon and Sporting Club d'Alexandrie of Egypt was in progress when we went to press.
Al Alhy Benghazi of Libya beat Malabo Kings of Equatorial Guinea by 92 to 76 points in group B while the Angolan affair between Libolo and Primeiro de Agosto was also scheduled for Thursday.
The other match between Nigeria's Kano Pillars and Urunani of Burundi has been scheduled for Friday.
Sporting Club, CS Constantinois and Al Alhy of zone one and Ferroviaro of zone seven were regarded as wild cards or gained automatic qualification.
Pillars and Oilers qualified from zone three's pre-tournament held in Monrovia in October while Malabo Kings and Tally BB progressed from group four.
Urunani qualified from zone five and Libolo and Primeiro progressed from zone six.
The four first teams of each group will qualify for the quarter finals with the grand finale set for December 21.
