Cape Verde: Afrobasket - Cape Verde Will Surpass 2007 Feat - Nwora

Cape Verde's Nigerian-born basketball coach Alex Nwora says his side is looking beyond the quarter-final stage reached at the 2007, as they prepare for the 27th Africa Cup of Nations, Afrobasket in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire.
Cape Verde are drawn in Group C of the competition alongside ten-time champion Angola, Central Africa Republic, but Nwora believes the FIBA Africa Zone-II nation can surpass its quarter final feat of 2007.
Nwora, who spoke to FIBA Africa.com, attributed the surge in Cape Verde basketball of late which saw them pick one of the two tickets in the zone ahead of Mali to hard work. Excerpt.
"It feels great to see that all of the hard work paid off. I worked really hard with the Cape Verde Basketball Federation to see this to achievement. It would have been sad if we did not qualify for Abidjan 2013 Afrobasket as we were the host of the FIBA Africa Zone-II qualifier and had spent the last couple of years trying to raise the level of Cape Verde basketball.
"Cape Verde will be ready for the summer 2013 Afrobasket. Our secret is hard work, dedication and commitment from the players to the coaching staff and the federation. There is no substitution for hard work. If all of our players are available and healthy, then we can compete with anybody in Africa," he said.
