University of Nairobi’s basketball team ‘The Terrorists’ on Saturday were handed a 46 – 34 defeat by Blazers in a KBF Premier League fixture at the Nyayo Gymnasium.
The students had a bad day right from the start as they started off going down 6 - 12 in the first quarter. The students committed many fouls allowing an easy cruise by Blazers on free throws.
The 2nd quarter was slow paced and witnessed a very low scoring rate from both ends but once again Blazers’ came on top with 8 points against Terrorists' 6 to put the half time scores at 34-18.
In the 3rd quarter the students had a recharged approach with Brian Obimbo who has been outstanding for the students posting some good returns as Terrorists showed signs of a comeback with a 16 -8 win. In total Brian Obimbo had 10 points while Bill Oketch had 11 points in the match.
But the form could not be replicated in the final quarter where Blazers overturned the tables and stamped authority with powerful offensive plays and resistant defense sealing the match with a comfortable 18 – 6 final quarter triumph to take home the maximum points.
The win against Terror takes Blazers to 11 points from 9 matches. This was also their second win since the league kicked off in April. For the students they now have 12 points from 8 matches, losing 5 and winning 3.
