SEYCHELLES : Anse Boileau and Mont Fleuri winners

Anse Boileau and Mont Fleuri are this year’s winners of the Cable & Wireless secondary school tournament which took place on Saturday at Victoria Gymnasium.

In the boys’ final Anse Boileau beat Mont Fleuri 16-9, while Mont Fleuri easily overpowered Belonie 16-3 to win the girls’ title. The National Sports Council and the Seychelles Basketball Federation also joined Cable & Wireless in sponsoring the tournament.
Anse Boileau started the tournament with a 26-14 win over English River in the preliminaries, before knocking out Beau Vallon 30-3 in the quarterfinal. In the semifinal, they faced Praslin who qualified after eliminating Independent School 10-7 in the other quarterfinal match. Again Anse Boileau were the strongest side as they eliminated Praslin 12-2 for a place in the final.
Mont Fleuri, on the other hand, started the competition with a 13-11 victory over Plaisance in the quarterfinal to advance to the semi final where they eliminated Belonie 12-10.

In the girls’ competition, Mont Fleuri started with a crushing 28-3 victory over Independent School in the quarterfinal, before inflicting an 18-0 punishment on Anse Boileau in the semifinal.
As for Belonie, they started with a 12-6 victory over Pointe Larue in the quarterfinal, before edging out Plaisance 8-7 in the semifinal.
Mont Fleuri’s Kevin Romain and Jana Malbrook were voted the tournament’s best boy and girl performers.
