UGANDA : Enabu inspires Warriors past Miracle Eagles

YMCA, Kampala - Enabu scored a game high 25 points, five assists and picked six rebounds to inspire the Kyambogo Warriors to victory past a bewildered Miracle Eagles side 63-46 on Friday night at the YMCA grounds, Wandegeya.
“I really want to thank God for this win because we did it as a team and gave it our best,” said an excited Enabu after the game.
That Enabu was the difference between the two sides is but an understatement. Warriors enjoyed an early lead in the first five minutes of the first quarter as the elusive encounter got underway 11-7 and finished the period 15-10 ahead of the Eagles.
However, a Miracle side missing head coach Joe Burua due to work commitments punished their opponents 9-6 and 14-11 in the next two quarters-to conclusively send out early warnings of a very low scoring game with persistent turnovers from both sides.
Well known for second half dominance, the Warriors were lagging behind 33-32 as they matched into the fourth quarter with a one point deficit but according to Warriors’ coach Mande Juruni, his side changed tactics.
“We were playing very cautiously in the first three quarters but we decided to change our tactics in the fourth quarter and take the ball to the hoop,” revealed a contented Juruni.
Juruni’s side scored an amazing 31 points in the last quarter, one more than they scored in the first three quarters.
Juruni added that he told his forwards (Michael Kariuki and the Malinga brothers-Eric and Henry) to play more on the inside.
Warriors’ Ronnie Kasewu added 14 points while both the Malinga brothers Eric and Henry scored eight points apiece.
Colin Mukiza, Edwin Katerega and Brian Ssentongo scored 12, 10 and 10 points respectively for the Eagles but could not help their side to victory.
Warriors assumed the table standings summit with 28 points from 15 games with only one loss to lowly Charging Rhino in the first round. The Eagles maintain third place with 26 points from 15 games, 11 wins and four losses.
