RWANDA : Hoops boosted with Hamza’s arrival

The men’s basketball team has been boosted with the arrival of Canada based forward Hamza Ruhezamihigo ahead of the 26th FIBA Africa championship set for August 17-28 in Madagascar.

Ruhezamihigo arrived in the country over the weekend and did yesterday’s gym work with the rest of his colleagues before undergoing normal drills at Amahoro indoor stadium with head coach Vaceslav Kavedzija.
Kavedzija, who is taking his team into final preparations, has been assured of the availability of US based Matthew Miller, who is due to arrive in the country tomorrow.
Angola’s Isom Cedric is the only player, who has been excluded in Kavedzija’s plans since the player is not responding to persistent calls.
The team is expected to head to Madagascar over the weekend. Rwanda is placed in group D alongside Tunisia, Togo and Central Africa.

Other teams which will compete in Madagascar tournament include Tunisia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Togo, Senegal, Mali, and Morocco, Central Africa republic, Chad, Mozambique, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, South Africa and defending champions Angola.

Rwanda qualified for the Games after clinching the Zone V championship title in February. To lift the title, Rwanda beat Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda at Amahoro indoor courts.
