Basketball fans have been handed a chance to rub shoulders with their favourite star players on the court.

This after national league players yesterday launched a Friday Night Lights tournament series to feature starting this Friday at YMCA court, Wandegeya. “It’s a great chance to interact with our fans on court and an opportunity for them to showcase their skills and get to know each other better,” said DMark Power assistant captain Isaac Afidra.

A total of 40 fans will be selected via an SMS vote for the eight-week event with each game lasting 30 minutes. Nile Breweries, through their Castle Lite brand are sponsoring the Friday Night Lights series to a tune of Shs13m. Rwenzori Beverages, Condom O, DMark Mobile and def.i.ni.tion are co-sponsors.
The series will be managed by Kinetic Group. “We are looking at this as a window for fans to learn the game more, especially the decisions taken by empires,” said Fuba official Tom Ocamringa.
