NIGERIA : Warriors Suffer Heavy Loss

The Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF/ DSTV Premier League resumed last weekend after about three weeks break because of the country’s involvement in the just concluded FIBA-Africa Nations Cup Zone III qualifiers in Lome, Togo.

Matches were played in both the Atlantic and Savannah Conferences with Delta Force Basketball Club of Asaba causing an upset as they beat former national champions, Ebun Comets by 69-67 points.

In other matches played at the Atlantic Conference, Union Bank defeated last season’s league runners-up, Lagos Islanders 65-62 points to keep alive their hope of picking a ticket for the final eight.

The table toppers in the conference, Royal Hoopers, have the highest win of the week, as they beat Dodan Warriors by 55 points, winning by 95-40 points to maintain the lead on the table.

At the Savannah Conference, Tapgun Rockets lost to Plateau Peaks by 63-90 points, while Bauchi Nets beat Yelwa Hawks by 69-55 points and Kada Stars defeated Niger Potters by 59-45 points.

Matches in the league will continue this weekend across the country.
