Regional Zone 5 championship runners-up Kyambogo Warriors showed nerves to beat arch-rivals Falcons 74-73 as the second round of the MTN-FUBA league resumed at YMCA, Wandegeya on Friday.

With two seconds to the end of the game, Falcons’ Carlos Ocici had a chance to win the game with two free throws after drawing a foul on Warriors’ Martin Okwako. But the 26- year-old missed both.

Trailing 61-56 going into the last quarter, Warriors seemed to have run out of gas but with Ramathan Abdulahi on court, the Tanzanian scored 5 unanswered points with 43seconds to go in the game.

Three-time regular season top scorer Stephen Okias sunk 15points; Ronnie Kasewu went about his business, scoring 10 points, Stephen Omony and Henry Malinga picked 13 points each for Falcons.

In the other games, Miracle Eagles defeated Kampala International University (KIU) 88-80 with Mohammed Ali picking 22 points and Boniface Okello sinking 15 points for the Lubaga-based side. In the women’s category, run-away leaders A-1 Challenge overran Makerere Sparks 70-50 with Hatima Kassim getting a game high 21points.

Meanwhile, Crown Beverages Limited through their Mountain Dew drink on Friday announced a Shs75m one-year sponsorship of Falcons Basketball Club.
