Russian U18 National Team made it look easy as they romped past Angolan counterparts in Spain. The teams tipped off the action in Pool A of the Vilagarcia Basket Cup in Spain. Pavel Shavkunov (185-G-91) and Denis Pastukhov (196-G-91) scored 13 points apiece to lead balanced Russian squad as they grabbed a comprehensive victory. Angola however did not look underdogs at the start of the game as they got to an aggressive start. The teams traded baskets but the African ballers secured a 17:16 lead after the first quarter. Russia shifted the gear in the second term and ran away for good. They scorched 26 points in the frame allowing their opponents to only 8. It was worth a 17-point lead at the interval. Russia continued to mount the pressure after the major break and beat Angolan team 23:18 in the third stanza. The teams exchanged baskets in the final quarter with the outcome known. Ivan Lazarev (205-C-91) dropped 12 points for Russia. Evgeny Voytyuk (195-F-91) canned 11 points in the victory. Emanuel Antonio responded with 11 points for Angola. Josemar Carvalho also added 11 points in the loss.
Angola will next face Germany. Russia is scheduled to take on hosting Spain tomorrow.
