CAPE VERDE : Santiago South Championships Kicks Off

The Regional Championship of Basketball for Santiago South in the senior division started yesterday Sports Pavilion 'Vava Duarte, with two games. ABC vs. Lenfer, and Seven vs. Bairro. This season will count on with the participation of seven teams, with the highlight going to the return of Bairro, and exit of Predio, which disagrees with the way the Regional Association is structured for running the competition. The Santiago South regional Association is being managed by a management committee formed by referees, with the support of the Cape Verdean Basketball Federation
The championship in the under 20 category for men will start on Saturday, Feb. 14, with the games between Seven Stars x Sao Domingo, followed by ABC x Assomada, in the Senior division.

The scores from yesterdays games: The ABC won 86 to 39, and Seven Stars beat Lenfer 76 to 66.

The basketball season officially started on Sunday, Feb. 8, with games in the U14 division male. The championship will count on the participation of eight teams divided into two groups. The scores from last Saturday games were: Amor de Deus beat Lenfer 84-69, Seven Stars B lost 04-29 to Orgaos, and ABC defeated Bairro 30-17.

The Vice-President of the Management committee for the Santiago South Regional basketball association, Domingos Tavares, ensured that there will be games this season, in the U14, U18, U20, and senior division. 'So that the games may have a good organization, we want to establish a partnership with the Federation to ensure a good competitive level the leagues, and with the greatest possible transparency, The vice-president underlined that they will do everything to try to decentralize the competition, taking some games to the various municipalities in the interior of Santiago Island.
