SEYCHELLES : Cobras add to Razors’ woes

COACHLESS Razors’ days as a top-flight team are numbered after they succumbed to their 15th defeat of the season on Wednesday at Victoria Gymnasium.

Solomon carried Premium Cobras’ scoring load with 45 pointsTitle contenders Premium Cobras added to the Razors’ woes by hitting the century mark in a 124-42 victory to go joint top with Baya in the 10-team Men’s Division One standings.
No match for the Cobras, the Razors are glued to the bottom of the table with one win and 15 defeats for 16 points – 14 fewer than Premium Cobras’ total of 30. The Razors have also lost a match by a walkover.
Coached by Guy Hall, former champions Premium Cobras, who fielded their three foreign players during the encounter, won all four quarters, 34-5, 33-14, 25-11 and 32-12.
As expected, Nigerian Alao Solomon carried the scoring load for the Cobras with 45 points and he was helped on the offensive end by Seychelles power forward Dominic Pillay (14 points) and Amadou Sylla (11).

Christopher Valmont and J. Tirant each got 12 points to lead the Razors.

In Monday’s Men’s Division Two match, Anse Etoile walked over AAP Brothers, who refused to play after losing their appeal against the National Basketball Technical Committee decision to impose a fine on them for leaving the court in their match against Mont Fleuri Dawgz and the one-match ban imposed on the André brothers – Steve and Steven.

With the win – their 14th in 18 games – Anse Etoile have brought their points tally to 32, while AAP Brothers have 29.

Drifters collected only their third win of the season when they beat Cadets 84-73 in another men’s lower division match played on Tuesday.
