NIGERIA : AWC: First Deepwater Lift Nigerian team

Sticking to its tradition of rendering quality service to humanity, First Deepwater Discovery Limited lived up to one of its vision statement of having people in mind by single-handedly sponsoring the Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball to the Africa U-22 Championship holding in Johannesburg, South Africa from September 30 through October 5, 2008.

Our Correspondent reliably gathered that the Oil and Gas firm was responsible for the team camping of two-week in Lagos and also took charge of paying the team way to the Africa Championship which doubled as the 2009 World Championship qualifiers.

Head coach of the special basketball players; O’Brien Adoki a senior lecturer at the nation’s prestigious sports institute, NIS says the team will not disappoint the confidence repose in them by the sponsor and the team fans.

Managing Director of First Deepwater Discovery Limited, Engr. Babatunde Babalola promised his company continuous support for the slamming and dunking game in Nigeria.
“Ours is a social responsibility with human face having played the game actively as a student at the Federal University of Technology Akure and as a pass-time now, we are obligated to do our best as a responsible corporate citizen to offer our support to the games’ ruling body, the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF and the players in general.
“We feel fulfilled been able to lend a helping hand to our fellow human in the area of sport as we are set and prepared to contribute our quota to the development of this beautiful game.

Eight players and four officials left Lagos aboard a South Africa Airline on Monday evening while the remaining four players and two officials joined the team Wednesday morning after having the issuance of their entry visa delayed till Tuesday by the South African embassy in Lagos.

Three countries, host South Africa, Angola and Nigeria are battling for the continent sole ticket to the World Championship billed for France next year are taking part of the week-long qualifiers.
