Sadolin Power are yet to fully recover from the death of their star Wilbrod Oketcho but that won’t stop them from going for the jugular against Kyambogo Warriors in an MTN-Fuba Basketball League game at Lugogo Indoor Stadium tonight.

Oketcho, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) when Power last lifted the trophy in 2000, died of gunshot wounds two weeks ago, and Power have since played one game and requested for postponement of the other two due to psychological trauma.

But Isaac Afidra the Power captain is confident his charges are getting back their heads and will be ready to challenge table leaders Warriors tonight.

“We have at least worked out this week and will be ready for the job. It’s going to be a tough game though,” Afidra told Daily Monitor yesterday. “We shall give it our best shot and see what happens.” Warriors eliminated Power from last year’s play-offs at the semifinal stage but lost the trophy to Mogas Falcons. The Kyambogo-based side suffered a shock loss in their season-opening game to Miracle but have since won three in a row.

In the games played Wednesday, Falcons thrashed Crane High School 85-59 with reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) Henry Malinga scoring a game high 23 points.

His brother Eric Malinga added 15 to the cause. Falcons return to action against KCC Lions while 2003 women champions Makerere Sparks, who defeated Crane High 74-56, face KCC Leopards.
