UGANDA : Power Yet to Recover From Oketcho Demise

SADOLIN Power have asked the basketball federation to give them some time to recover from the loss of their former player Wilbrod Oketcho, writes Charles Mutebi.
Power return to MTN-FUBA League action for the first time today against UCU Canons since the passing of legend Oketcho.
Oketcho, who was the most important player for Power for the better part of his decade-long stint with the club, died last Wednesday and was buried on Saturday in Tororo.
Now Power start life after Oks - as he was endearingly known to his team-mates - but team captain and long time friend of the late says there could be nothing harder at the moment.
"It's very tough," said Isaac Afidra. "Since Tuesday last week, no one on the team has touched a ball. The guys don't even want to be around YMCA (the team's training court) because we have failed to come to terms with Oks' death," he added.
Afidra, who explained that he personally didn't want to look at anything basketball related like his snickers because he immediately broke down in tears, wished there was a way Power could be given time to recuperate from the loss.
"I would rather the federation gives us time to recover because we are all still heartbroken," Afidra said adding that they were going to attend the match but winning it was the last thing on their mind.
"We will play but only because it's a fixture we have to honour," Afidra lamented.
