NIGERIA : Union Bank take second game

Union Bank Club on Wednesday defeated Tapgun Rockets of Jos 77-71 at the Jos Mini Sports Hall to pick their second game on their Road Trip through the Savannah Conference. It was indeed the second win the Stallion Boys in the same city of Jos having taken the match against Plateau Peaks on Tuesday at the same venue.

The second was won by action on the court but they secured the win over hosts Peaks by default. The Plateau Peaks team keep could not provide electricity in the mini hall used for their home games. The development is a shock to followers of the game in Nigeria given the past records of Peaks. They won the national league title just two seasons ago and played the African Champions Cup in the same year.

"Well, the FIBA rule was applied. I don't know what their problems are but something was wrong as they could not provide electricity for the hall. When it became obvious that light was never going to come to that hall the referee called off the match. They were not ready for the match," Rotimi Savage the Union Bank team manager explained online to FIBA.COM.

The Union Bank team began their Road Trip games on Monday with a game in Minna against Niger Potters. That match ended in the fourth quarter after a serious injury to a Union Bank guard with Potters leading by 78-61. The trip will continue in Bauchi with two matches against Yelwa Hawks and Bauchi Nets on Thursday and Friday.
