LYBIA : Defending champions Al Nasser lead in the league

When it comes to Basketball in Libya, the league championship, made up of 12 teams is proving very evenly balanced with defending champions Al-Nasser leading the way with 15 points from eight matches. But it looks as if they would be hard-pressed to repeat last season's feat.
Al-Nasser's points' tally is one ahead of four other teams, currently sharing the runner up spot and quite capable of keeping their challenge to the very end. They are, Alshabab, Al-Ittihad, and the two Al-Ahli clubs of Tripoli and Benghazi.
Al-Morog are two points adrift on 12, while Al Madina in seventh place, who had a point deducted come next with 11 points, sharing the total with two other teams, Al-Hilal and Al-Jazeera.
Bringing up the rear are Al-Yarmouk with 10, Al Tahade with nine and Al-Wahda with eight points. Al Wahda is also the only ones yet to enjoy the satisfaction of a victory.
The highest scoring matches so far involved Al-Ittihad, first when they defeated Al-Wahda 110-70 and then Al-Tahade 106-43. Al-Ahli of Tripoli were the only other team to attain a century of points in a league match so far when they beat Al Tahade 104- 43.
However, overall the level of the game in the championship is quit high with most games finishing in high-scoring results, with one or both teams breaking the 70-points barrier, which is quite encouraging as it shows that almost all participating teams have very accurate basketballers.
It is worth noting that the 46 matches played so far, produced the amount of 6311 points, that is an average of 131.5 points for every match. This is quite high and should make for quite attractive matches.
