KENYA : Its business as Zone Five inaugurates an office in Nairobi

ZONE Five will soon get down to serious business following the inauguration of a secretariat in Nairobi, Kenya.

President Morris Aluanga told FIBA in an interview that with an office complete with everything including a secretary, affairs for the region will now be conducted in a smooth environment. The offices are located at the Nyayo National Stadium.

"With the help of FIBA Africa, we have now opened a full fledged office where we will be able to run our affairs. It will now be serious business." noted Aluanga while thanking the continental body for funding the development.

Aluanga, who attended the FIBA Africa Central Board meeting in Cairo, said that this move will help co-ordinate the affairs of the region which he promises will see a lot more activities from this year.
"2008 will be a very busy year fro this Zone. We have lined up our activities in the Under 18 boys, Under 18 girls, Club Championships for both men and women and the elimination rounds for the Africa nations Cup in both categories." he disclosed.

Aluanga commended FIBA Africa from moving Egypt from Zone Five during this year's Club championships qualifiers and urged clubs from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Eritrea to get ready for the eliminations.

"Now all I can ask the clubs is to start early preparations so that when we release the dates for the championships the teams will all converge in the venue looking for that continental ticket that will see them battle against the rest from Africa." he said.
