Sprite Storms collected two maximum women's basketball Premier League points when they beat Yana Club 64-46 at Nairobi's Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday.

The low scoring first leg tie saw Storms struggle to take a narrow 9-4 first quarter advantage. Yana, who joined the competition this season, worked hard but squandered most of the scoring chances to trail 34-19 at half-time. On resumption, Yana erased a 21 point margin to close in at 39-45, but Storms still looked too smart for them.

Hilda Luvandwa, who damaged Yana, scored 19 points for Storms, with none of the Yana players replying in double figures. In another women's match, Caroline "Majeng" Achieng scored 19 points with Caroline Arato adding 13 points to lead Telkom to a huge 118-25 win over Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. Telkom had no opposition from the word go leading 60-9 at half-time.

In the men's Division One match, Telkom recovered from two consecutive loses to defeat Lomboritz 81-72. Telkom, who had crashed to Java Warriors and Don Bosco, looked organised from start to lead 36-27 at half-time. Morris Ochieng hit 20 points for Telkom while Melvin Onyang Oketch had 18 points and Anthony Onyango 17 for Lomboritz.

Nairobi Pentecostal Church beat Juja-based JKUAT 66-60 in their first leg tie of the men's Division One competition.
