Basketball in Africa

KAMPALA A secured their place in the men's quarter-finals by hammering fellow home side Entebbe 83-31 in the East and Central Africa Inter Cities basketball championships at Lugogo Indoor stadium.

They will be joined by Nairobi that has registered straight victories in their last three games and Dar es Salaam who should secure second place in pool B.

Ivan Enabu snatched the play of the day with his behind the back fake pass to Wilbrod Oketcho who converted 17 points with Isaac Afidra adding 12 points to give Kampala A their third consecutive win yesterday.

Meanwhile, Mombasa men's team will this year lose their Inter Cities crown after failing to make the trip while Dar es Salaam that has so far succumbed to two losses, are the women's defending champions.

The eighth edition of the regional championship that concludes on Sunday has been sponsored by Kampala City Council (KCC) and organized by KCC Leopards women's team.
