"I have been out for all this long but have been doing some training to keep fit. I want to re-join my team mates so that we can get back to our winning ways," Akello said.

She led Sparks to their first league title in 2003 when they beat record champions Lady Bucks in the finals, ands then reached the finals in the following year but lost to the same team.

The MTN Open that is slated for March 24-26 at the Makerere pool and main courts will attract regional sides.
