UGANDA: Giants shop big for new 2006 season

MTN basketball league sides are aiming at beefing up for this 2006 season when the players' transfer window opens this month.

Charging Rhino is targeting the signature of Miracle and National team forward Moses Wasswa, together with teammate and former Rhino star Moses Ochola. Livingstone and also national team player Joseph Ekong and Falcons' out of favour Walter Alenyo are the other targets.

Rhino put up one of the worst performances in the club's history by failing to reach the play offs last season. In the women's category, Kampala City Council (KCC) Leopards is about to secure the signature of MAK Sparks' Agatha Baliddawa (pictured), together with Rosemell Jopa Witti (Kyambogo) and Teddy Nanyonga (Crane High).

The 2005 new signings Miriam Hamara, Becky Akullo, Brenda Mbone, Annet Nakiwu, Acilla Cylia and Catherine Othieno, helped the side to a third place finish in the club's second season in the league.
